One Second Everyday 2014: My year in 365 seconds

In 2014, I recorded one second of my life every single day, using the amazing 1 Second Everyday app. This is the final product.

The Nifty Fifty. Dr. Pol. The Polar Vortex. Ham horn. Mountain Collective ski trip. Desert Bus. #TC14. The World’s Largest Muskie. The Mototaxi Junket. Machu Picchu. Burning Man. 32 U.S. states and 3 Canadian provinces. It’s amazing looking back at it all in one second glimpses. 2014 was quite the year!

Some of the moments that happened during this awesome (and busy) year:

-New Year’s in NYC and the annual Dumpling Party with all my hooligans in Brooklyn.

-Epic “Mountain Collective” ski trip in the Rocky Mountains and Sierra Nevadas – Mammoth, Aspen, Jackson Hole, Alta, Snowbird, Deer Valley, Whistler, Blackcomb, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows – you name it (spent 25 days skiing in 2014).

-Filmed two more seasons of The Incredible Dr. Pol in ‪#‎puremichigan‬, and the series got its highest ratings ever! (Go ‪#‎GreenTeam!)

-Rode Desert Bus to Vegas with the Dynamite League of Champions, and purchased 1/4 of Tim’s new Boss tattoo.

-Finished visiting all 50 states in one year (‪#‎niftyfifty‬)! It included a roadtrip down the Pacific Coast, a roadtrip from Michigan to Florida, a visit to in New Orleans/Mississippi/Alabama, and a sweet 7-state Midwest roadtrip to top it all off (Kansas City! Omaha! Fargo! Minneapolis!).

-Visited Alaska and Hawaii for the first time – explored Alaska’s stunning wilderness, and relaxed on the beaches of Oahu and Maui.

-Visited Wisconsin lake country and saw the world’s largest muskie!

-Spent a magical week in the playa at Burning Man 2014 – exploring and making beautiful art with amazing people.

-Drove across the entirety of Peru in a “sofa bike”, from the desert to the Amazon to the Andes, and completed the Mototaxi Junket…entirely on my own. Gave away 100 rubber duckies to kids and raised over $3,000 for SOS Children’s Villages!

-Trekked the The Inka Trail to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu.

-Island hopped off the California coast and backpacked the Trans-Catalina Trail.

-Paid a few visits to LA for all my favorite traditions: CortaCal; 4th of July in the Jungle; Epic Metro Bar Crawl; Friendsgiving; Turkey Trot Bar Crawl; Thanksgvin-N-Out; Black Tie Day Friday; and the 9th Annual No Parents No Rules Great Western Open Mini Golf Tournament.

-Attended three film festivals: Sundance Film Festival in Utah, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in North Carolina, and AFI Docs in Washington DC, and watched dozens of amazing documentaries, and attended non-fiction filmmaking panels.

-Ran some of our biggest ever Reality Rush teambuilding events in Los Angeles for Toyota and Hewlett Packard; and traveled to Seattle for a weekend to run a “Big Brother” event for a group of gamers.

-Built a new website and produced several dozen videos for my parents’ primitive weapons business Thunderbird Atlatl. Attended atlatl events in Michigan and New York.

-Started watching serial TV for the first time, and tackled Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and (most of) The Wire. Oh… and listened to Serial, of course.

-Enjoyed lots of down time in my adopted home of #PureMichigan with the whole Pol Crew, and became ‪#‎smittenwiththemitten‬.

-Rounded out the year by buying a 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia camper van in Canada. I’m going to ‪#‎roadtrip‬ this baby all over the country — and world!

I’m a very, very lucky guy.

What does 2015 have in store?!
